Fast + Epp collaborated with three architectural firms to design four elevated and two at-grade skytrain stations in preparation for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.
The elevated stations featured custom modular timber/steel roof panels, designed to create a family of stations. Prefabrication of modular roof panels ensured quality, economical and efficient structures. Prefabrication also allowed for full integration of electrical and communication systems to be housed discreetly within the panels.
The two at-grade Vancouver International Airport stations were designed predominantly to follow the vernacular established at the airport terminus station.
The project achieved rare service commencement 110 days ahead of schedule, meeting the Client's design objective to be "on budget, on time."
Lansdowne, Aberdeen and Richmond Brighouse Stations were completed in collaboration with Perkins + Will Canada. VIA Architecture was involved with Marine Drive Station, while Francl Architecture completed designs for Templeton and Sea Island Centre Stations.
