Leninism museum 52m below ground
kiev. subway. teatralna
(theatre) – deep (52m) metro station, of pylon type, has single entrance
equipped with 4-stripe escalator, entered service in 1987 as leninska. zoloti
vorota (golden gate) - deep (103m) metro station, of column type, has single
entrance equipped with 3-stripe escalator and a passway to teatralna equipped
with 4-stripe escalator, entered service in 1989. leninska was built as
transfer node between red and green metro lines and as a kind of monument to
Lenin. in order to construct it a parallel tunnels with this station were
implanted to kreshatik-university metro run and train route was switched. old
tunnels lie just above zoloti vorota (golden gate) station with their tubings
partially cut by its central hall.
today the interstation passway zoloti vorota-teatralna proves incapable
to handle ever strengthening human deluge. there is a project to build an
additional passway, thus due to constructive character of two stations and
their relative position this one should rival discomfort of doubling passway on
kreshatik-plosha nezalezhnosti (independence square) node.
the project
instead of doubling passway we propose the construction of entire new
station teatralna-2, placed above zoloti vorota (golden gate) station at old
tunnels run. this should be a single vault space with frames laying on tubings
of old tunnels, partially filled up to overcome the cutting vault of zoloti
vorota (golden gate). tracks are layed just over with hall arcs of zoloti vorota
(golden gate) reinforced. teatralna-2 would have 2 entrances – one equipped
with 4-stripe escalator, and another with 4-stripe escalator of old teatralna
station connected to teatralna-2 with horizontal walking conveyor. to change
lines 8 escalator stripes connecting central hall of golden gate with
teatralna-2 platform are provided. new transfer  would take less time and accommodate
double traffic of present. an excavated soil should not significantly outweigh
that if doubling passway was built.  total
expenditures would add costs for interior of new station. old interstation
passway should become a part of new entrance to zoloti vorota (golden gate)
station with 4-stripe 2-run escalator.
upon completion: 2 additional metro entrances, a comfortable and time-saving
passway between lines with sufficient bandwidth, and unadopted station
teatralna-1
the station is restored with its original name leninska and adopted as
symbolic repository for communism buried at 170ft depth.  in this museum soviet symbolics, Lenin
statues and other monuments, which are no more tolerated in their former place,
but still possess historical and artistic value are stored. achievements of
bygone regime and its multiple crimes are to be exposed here. leninist era is
in earth, but accessible for review with delight or atrocity. visitors enter
the museum through old teatralna escalator and leave to intermediate hall
between two escalator runs  of
the new entrance to zoloti vorota (golden gate) station.
