Inspired by the strokes of swimming, the concept is centered around fluidity, motion, and the elegance of aquatic movements. It aims to capture the essence of the fluid movements involved in various swimming styles, from the initial dive to the rhythmic strokes and powerful finishes.
The architecture appears as if its in constant motion, with undulating rooflines that evoke the motion of the phases of a butterfly stroke. It mimics the progress of a swimmer through each phase of the stroke.
The undulating roof sweeps up from the ground, like a wave forming when the swimmer catches their breath. The undulating roof has 3 different sections that vary in height, symbolizing the leg and arm undulations of a butterfly stroke. It encloses the pools of the Aquatic Center with a unifying gesture of fluidity, while also describing the volume of the swimming and diving pools.
