We were briefed to design eleven apartments on an infill site in
Belper, Derbyshire, which is part of the world heritage site. Our proposal sat
neatly between the existing buildings through form and massing.
Materials were chosen to blend in with neighbouring properties.
However, we added a contemporary feel with a large vertical frame which
provided a drive through to rear parking, and glazing above. The top
floor was then set back behind a glazed balcony with a floating roof.
