The warehouses are located in Pier Capelo Ivens, midway between the bridges of D. Luís and Arrábida, in a riverside road overlooking the Douro River. Given the width of the road they become almost part of the river. Served by Fontaínhas ladders, they form an angle with Viterbo de Campos Street, a narrow road that runs behind them.In general, the buildings were severely damaged, being only possible to recover the facades and part of the structure. The main objective of the plan was to take advantage of the buildings, reinventing its forms and making the most of its characteristic location. The potential uses of the buildings have been developed in a mixed manner in order to enable multifunctionality, so they can attract complementary interests. According to this argument, spaces were created for both business and residential use. The warehouses were reconstructed with the same kind of old materials, following some of their original forms. The main structure is made of reinforced concrete while the structure of the upper floors is constructed with metal. The roofs were performed in laminated wood.
The completion of the building shows a concern about quality and a contemporary image. On one hand, the existing buildings have been restored making them look like an harmonized whole, and, on the other hand, additional forms were introduced to break with tradition and bring out the general set.
