Studio BANAA’s Café Vivant / Somm Cellars in Menlo Park is a 5,000 square foot hospitality destination that blends California’s wine heritage with a contemporary café and dining experience. Conceived as a hybrid space, the project integrates a café, bistro, and wine bar into a single cohesive environment that evolves throughout the day from morning coffee service to evening wine centric gatherings.
The design emphasizes warmth, tactility, and atmosphere, drawing on natural materials, soft lighting, and layered spatial composition to create an inviting and approachable setting. Thoughtfully choreographed transitions between zones allow the space to feel both intimate and open, supporting a range of social experiences from casual meetups to more immersive dining and tasting moments.
Rooted in the culture of California viniculture, Café Vivant / Somm Cellars celebrates the ritual of gathering around food and wine, offering a refined yet relaxed environment that encourages community, conversation, and lingering presence.
