The project involves the construction of a small building in a courtyard in the center of Turin.
In fact it is the recovery of an old laboratory , used in the past such as carpentry , and its external storage .
The theme of the recovery of low buildings located within yards is certainly an interesting opportunity to rethink the recovery of existing buildings ( mostly with craft destination ) aimed at transforming them into new residential buildings with spatial characteristics compared to those of classic urban apartment .
In this case, the project involved not only the recovery of old carpentry for residential purposes , but also the realization of a small laboratory and two parking spaces in place of the existing external storage . The coverage of the latter , has been used to realize a large terrace to the service of the dwelling .
The main building is composed basically of two volumes : the first volume upholstered in black metal and wooden slats of Okuma , a second volume , resting on the first , and completely covered in titanium zinc . A girder continuous black iron frames completely the first volume , extending to delimit the volume of the laboratory and parking positioned perpendicular to the first. A slender iron pergola covers the terrace resuming scanning the underlying structure.
The main building on the ground floor one large space for the living room and the kitchen, while upstairs the master bedroom and the bathroom .
The project entirely redesigns old carpentry ( which retains the volumes ) through the use of a few materials , such as iron , wood and zinc , trying to give the building a character that makes it recognizable within the space dark and narrow when it is forced .
