Conceived in 1958, the cableway allows the access at the top of the well-known Mont Faron, which did not meet the requirements on any kind of accessibility either mobility, visual, hearing or intellectual impairment.
This project allows, thanks to the redesign of its access (lifts, ramps, signage…), adapting the cableway stations and exterior environments to handicapped. The remarkable architecture of both already existant stations, example of the modern movement and noticed to heritage in 20th century, is highlighted and respected. The new volumes are white, aerial and minimalists through the use of expanded metal. Large wood terraces are conceived at the upper station offering excellent panoramic views from East to West.
This project is also an oportunity to do an overall in terms of global design : signage and scenography, urban furniture, terrace railing, landscape… which offers a complete experience for tourists which come to visit this exceptional site (90,000 passengers/year).
