A small fishing community/town that in the last 20years has seen a decline in its population due to a brain drain to larger cities around it. The local community decided to regenerate the town center and adjoining riverbank in order to create a new focal point and place of interest for potential visitors to the town. As its location on the main Cape Cod canal, the town is a key rout for barges and shipping vessels to pass through when leaving Boston and heading both out to sea or to local ports. We concentrated specifically on barges, cheap and plentiful supply of steel structures that are easy to purchase, abundant in numbers and available locally. Using the steel hulls we devised a sequence of events that would eventually lead to the construction of a wetland park complete with Maritime Museum and various buildings housing sailing clubs , restraints and health sap’s. All of these structures relied primarily on the barges as their structures, and in so were a great way to recycle what is vastly becoming an eyesore and problem for the whole area of Cape Cod.
