An exercise to push the notion of
green-living and ‘bungalows-in-the-sky’, each of the 63-units within Butterfly Valley
is made up of a ‘exploded’ configuration of living spaces intertwined and
infused with multiple open/exterior green spaces that extend into large, cantilevered,
sunken balconies (for soil/plantation). Three different units stacked-up to
make a typical group. Different floor-to-floor heights, public/private zones are
explored and demarcated, creating a dynamic, porous, naturally
ventilated/daylit environment. The building form is conceived as an abstracted
form of a butterfly, with changing patterns of balconies and curves, a living
machine both synergistic and symbolic with/in the context and climate.
