2004 Burnham Price competition was for designing a series of water taxi stations along Chicago River. The proposal intended to create stations as continuous urban surfaces to negotiate between the river and the street. The tilted urban plaza in the first site brings the street level to riverside with horizontal manipulations. The surface in the second site folds and wraps along the sidewalk with vertical manipulations to accommodate required programs. Sculpting the space with similar operations creates a formal and graphic identity for the stations, therefore unifying them along the waterway.
