A bungalow renovation unites luxurious minimalism and urban living. Original elements from 1935 are restored with contemporary statements. New white pine patches original longleaf pine for designed color differences; perpendicular floor boards at former interior walls depict the building’s past use. White-washed shiplap enlivens and brightens the interior. New energy efficient windows with extended jambs that act as baffles, bringing more light to the interior, birch plywood walls with steel c- channel at floor and ceiling for a planar and trimless aesthetic. Modern updates for space-saving include installing built-in European style closets, maintaining all kitchen cabinets as lowers and built-in refrigeration in the kitchen island. A butcher block countertop matches cabinet fronts for unified, monolithic appearance.
