FBA created a four-story volume which recalls the form, mass and organization of a historic, Erie Canal period warehouse building. The building entry houses a WWII aircraft and orients visitors to an intuitive circulation plan. Contemporary glass and metal insertions protrude from the original footprint of masonry for stairs, office space and back-of-house functions. This project was the first new development to take place at the Erie Canal Harbor since a master plan, also completed by Flynn Battaglia Architects, was written.
