The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens originally were conceived of as Victorian gardens in 1898-1902 but were rethought in the 1930's in the Moderne style. It was located specifically to be the focal point of the Frederick Law Olmstead-designed South Park. Flynn Battaglia Architects rebuilt, recreated and replicated lost, missing, and misinterpreted elements of the Gardens' main dome and entry pavilion. This was done through extensive historical and site investigative research. FBA introduced innovative an glazing system to preserve the original character of the space while upgrading to modern standards.
