The client, a prominent Thai maritime and dredging service provider, sought to revitalize their long-standing headquarters. After occupying the same detached building, 4.5-storey height with a dead space rooftop for over 30 years, the firm required a complete architectural evolution to accommodate their expanding workforce and modernized operations. The brief centered on a shared-wall structure, demanding a creative spatial strategy to increase occupancy while fostering a contemporary corporate culture. Key programmatic requirements include specialized zones for Engineering, Accounting, and Administration, balanced with flexible communal spaces. A primary focus was placed on the Executive Level, envisioned as a collaborative 'hub' that dissolves traditional barriers, allowing for fluid dialogue, informal meetings, and shared leisure within the leadership team."
The architectural identity is deeply rooted in the essence of BANTADTHAI. We translated the company’s corporate soul—from its maritime heritage to its symbolic name—into a physical experience. The design draws inspiration from the structural skeleton of a ship, utilizing a language of interlocking forms to represent strength and unity.
The brand’s primary colors are deconstructed; 'White' dominates the exterior for a clean urban presence, while 'Deep Sea Blue' and 'Heritage Red' are desaturated within the interior to foster a calm, ergonomic environment for the staff.
The building’s new face is defined by a dynamic white louver system, a facade meticulously designed to mirror the rhythmic undulation of ocean waves. These vertical fins serve as a dual metaphor: they represent the rib-like skeleton of a vessel while echoing the fluid energy of the water—the very element that defines the company's business. Arranged in varying depths to create a wave-effect, the facade provides a sense of movement and transparency.
By draping the original twin-structure in this pristine, wave-like skin, the architecture transcends its industrial surroundings, becoming a contemporary landmark that embodies the spirit of the sea.
The lobby is illuminated by a bespoke statement chandelier “The Ripple of the Tide“, specifically made for this project. Its fluid, organic form is inspired by the circular ripples (วงน้ำ) formed on the sea’s surface. This custom installation creates a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, softening the industrial presence of the wood 'vessel' structure below. By capturing the ephemeral movement of water into a permanent light fixture, the design enhances the sense of 'spatial fluidity' that is central to the project’s maritime concept.
The architectural skeleton of a ship merges with the intricate geometry of a 'Pong Pang' (traditional estuarine fishing trap), forming a grand featured wall that welcomes all guests and staffs. The new look creates a lobby that is not only a functional reception but a physical narrative of Bantadthai’s 30-year journey from river to sea.
To foster a productive yet relaxed environment, we strategically deconstructed the company's bold Corporate Identity (CI). The primary Reds and Blues were reimagined through a softened, desaturated palette, creating an 'eye-soothing' ambiance that reduces stress while maintaining brand recognition. This 'Muted CI' approach ensures that the office remains a place of professional focus, where the legacy of Bantadthai is felt through subtle sophistication rather than overt branding.
Steel is more than a structural choice; it is a manifestation of the company’s DNA. By utilizing steel in both the framework and bespoke interior detailing, the design celebrates the raw, honest beauty of maritime engineering. These metal accents, when paired with a softened CI palette, create a 'Industrial-Sophisticate' aesthetic that perfectly represents the hardworking yet forward-thinking spirit of Bantadthai."
