Brutal Salon Bosman, Alkmaar
Award-winning hairartists Salon Bosman is known throughout North Holland for its expertise in the field of hair and make-up. By purchasing the adjacent building, the opportunity arose to expand and provide the entire business with a new interior.
The question for us was to create a coherent whole in a contemporary experience. Naturally, this was also the time to optimize the routing and ergonomic conditions.
We have elaborated this in the BRUTAL APPEARANCE concept.
The hair creations of Bosman salon show similarities with Brutalism, which was at its heyday in the 1950s to 1970s. It is characterized in the application of a raw material in a sculptural design. In the design, the unpolished and primitive character of the tiled floor and walls is enhanced by the luxurious atmosphere of Palm Springs / California in the 1970s, which is the inspiration for the permanent furniture and other styling.
Salon Bosman is divided into a number of zones for cutting, washing and coloring and general functions. Upon entering, there is a striking, tiled counter surrounded by tall cabinets from which the hairdressing products are sold. In this busy area you will also find the coffee corner, waiting area and so all traffic in the other areas is minimized.
The room divider with plants in the middle of the large room creates an intimate atmosphere. By applying various materials and colors, all functions have been given their own atmosphere. The binding element is formed by the ceramic tiles and decorative breezeblocks, which are also used in the facades and garden. Inside, the salon exudes tranquility in which comfortable chairs and luxurious details contribute to this cosmetic indulgence. As a visitor you will experience the leading role in the world of fashion, styling and architecture for a moment.
