Broadmoor Design Group provided comprehensive design services for
the development of the Brown Foundation Center, located overlooking Lake
Pontchartrain in Metairie, LA. The Brown Foundation is a non-profit
organization which provides funding to numerous charitable organizations
throughout Southern Louisiana and Mississippi. This was a comprehensive
mission project of the Board of Trustees, with Broadmoor providing
Architectural and Interior Design services.
Constructed in 2003, this 76,715 square foot facility is comprised
of five floors with a structure of poured-in-place concrete. The 1st and
2nd floors of this structure provide for a secured parking garage.
Professional office space is developed on the three upper floors
encompassing 26,934 square feet. A roof deck terrace features a 2,300
square foot venue for entertainment overlooking the lake.
Complete Interior Design services saw the continuity of the design
themes presented on the exterior of the structure, further developed in
the Interior Design. Patterned granite flooring, natural cherry millwork
and paneling, and attention to every detail create a warm, inviting
environment with a contemporary formal ambiance. The interior design
services included a custom designed reception desk, conference table,
and display cases for vintage silver trophies. Broadmoor Design Group
also selected the fabrics, furniture and accessories, as well as
coordinated the procurement and of the Interior Design package,
including artwork throughout the building.
The inspiration for the design was a building which would have a
strong image representative of the Foundation. An image of stability and
permanence was created by reinterpreting classic architectural
proportions and details while using contemporary materials. The building
is clad in architectural pre-cast and reflective insulated glass.
