With three locations in the OWL region, Brockmeyer Garden Center has made a name for itself not only with its variety of plants, but also with its own brand, Casi. This brand offers a wide range of home and garden accessories that complement the plant assortment in the garden centers. The logistics center was primarily designed for the own brand, as the plants are stored directly at the locations.
The site of Brockmeyer's new logistics location is located in the Ravenna Park industrial park in the city of Halle Westfalen. It forms the spatial boundary of the area to the A 33 motorway.
The building is divided into administration, sales, and logistics areas, which are spatially connected. The administration building is located in front of the logistics hall as a separate structure and forms the entrance to the entire facility. The hall is directly connected to the administration building and opens up to the entrance in the northern area, which is used for warehouse sales. Storage and retrieval take place at the side via a separately accessible loading yard.
The two-story glass facades of both structures connect the functional units into a single design unit. These correspond to the interior with the entrance foyer of the administration and the two-story sales room in the logistics area. The interplay of open and closed surfaces on the facades and the color unity of the materials used support this principle.
The building is designed in accordance with KFW 55 EE and, with its primary energy requirement of 44.34 kWh/(m²·a), falls 60% below the required value. Surplus electricity is made available to the public grid. Green roof areas and retention areas have been created for rainwater retention.
