Broadway
Broadway in Duffield contains many large properties of contrasting styles, but predominantly of traditional character. This plot contained a 1950s style dwelling which our clients requested the domolition of, and asked us to design a new dwelling for the site.The brief was to design a single bespoke 350 sq.m. dwelling in a contemporary style. The plot size gave ample space to achieve a large dwelling. We formed a very pragmatic layout based on the clients use of, and requirements for space. We incorporated some 'wow factors' to the front by introducing a wall of glazing in the main gable end, and to the entrance area. The entrance then has a double height space with a galleried bridge overlooking the glazed entrance. Contemporary details were proposed in the use of stone heads and cills which line through the window openings. This gave a contemporray edge to a traditional form.
