STATUS
Concept
a space for all people's beliefs...
a refuge of silence, focus and meditation...
a bridge towards the light...
The project aims to propose a building which sole purpose is to provide a refuge of silence, focus and meditation amidst the bustling life of our cities, not different from the Pantheon, the temple of all Gods in ancient Rome. Our building is intended to be a place for every person of every religion or spiritual path.
One of the highest aspirations of architecture is to create spaces permeated by spirituality and that is the goal this building hopes to achieve.
It is only three meters wide but very long and tall to emphasize its verticality toward the sky. The absence of a roof allows the light to flood the interior and enables the people inside to gaze at the sky. The walls are made of light transmitting concrete with gradually increasing amounts of optical fibers towards the top, in a way that makes the upper part of the building disappear in light.
This powerful visual effect aims to create an atmosphere where people could perceive a connection with the light above them and with the light in the people around them.
The building can be accessed only underground via stairs and a ramp positioned at the two short ends. This entrance represents a sort of secret passage between the outside world and the interior. Seen from the outside the black, dissolving monolith stands silent and proud, like a beacon surrounded by the sea of the city.
