After completing Ringling’s campus master plan, Ayers Saint Gross designed a contemporary residence hall with apartment-style units for upperclass students. The Bridge Hall Apartments are a beautiful and functional connection between the urban edge of campus and the adjacent Whitaker Bayou, linked via an arts walk. A ground-level project room and a series of lobby and lounge spaces connect by a central stair. These creative, engaging spaces are visible from the street and the courtyard. The building’s white stucco shell highlights internal pops of color, inviting students walking across campus to observe the more textured interior where students are engaged in creating art.
