The project is located in Surabaya, Indonesia, with total site area of 250 sqm.
The Client requested for a total rebuilding as it had stood in the densely populated area of Surabaya, Indonesia for over 30 years. Creating a new House which maximized the use of natural daylight and in harmony with Nature(Light + Air + Green) was utmost important to the Client.
The feeling of being in a Pavilion, in the bath of Light & Nature was emphasized. This is achieved by creating an open central courtyard where light and air are allowed to penetrate into the House, circulating around the surrounding rooms.
The Design explored the syntax between volumes of Light & Nature, the interplay between the both throughout the House in proportion.
The enjoyment of the spatial relationship between Light & Nature is always within the physical & visual reach of the Client. The relationship between the interior spaces to the volumes of Light & Nature is always connected. The volumes of Light & Nature in another way, function as the Lungs of the House maintaining the Harmony of the Physical & the Psychology of the occupants.
Perching high above the grounds, the façade of the 2nd Floor volume is expressed as a tree providing shade & volumes of Nature to flow into the House. With this, the House seems to breathe in Harmony with One as he/she begins the ‘Walk into Nature’ which is enhanced by the volumes.
