The Bramalea Recreational Centre project is a multi phase design that is intended to establish a new pedestrian path network between disconnected residential areas, while additionally playing host to a future densifi cation of the surrounding area. The fi rst phase relates to the Recreational Centre itself and was intended as a response to the rapid infiltration of urban space upon the site. The architectural proposal is to be viewed as type of large scale landscape; a reintroduction of a natural pathway into an urban context. The centre is a ramping form that enables pedestrian connections across high volume arterial roads and provides access to the public recreational areas, sports fields and shopping centre. In the later phases, the recreational centre becomes the sitefor an expanded pedestrian network with the intention of creating a large scale secondary ground plan. A second intrusive form from the north east similarly links another residential area. With a connection across the top of the shopping centre, a new path between formerly disconnectedresidential areas is formed. This new path network plays host to the development of high density residential towers, all of which are interconnected on two levels. On the lower levels each towerwould be connected to the amenities nearby; the shopping mall, parking lots or Recreational Centre. However on the upper level, each tower would be directly integrated into the emerging sprawling natural landscape created above the programmed urban fabric.
