Bradco II — Industrial Unit
Bradco II reimagines the industrial building as a precise architectural instrument, where craftsmanship, production, and landscape converge. Located on a sloped site in Felgueiras, Portugal, the project expands the existing Bradco factory to accommodate increased production, centralized functions, and a growing workforce, while preserving the company’s identity.
The building’s design responds to a mixed-use context, opening its interiors to natural light and panoramic views of the surrounding valley and Serra de Castelo de Paiva. The layout is rational and functional: production occupies the central core, while offices, technical areas, and support spaces are arranged along lateral wings to ensure efficient workflow and clear circulation.
Materiality plays a defining role: local stone anchors the building to the site, glass connects interior spaces with the landscape, and a metal canopy links the new unit to the existing factory, bridging tradition and modernity. Interior spaces prioritize comfort, daylight, and employee well-being, while exterior pedestrian paths introduce human scale and areas for pause.
“Bradco II was conceived as a natural extension of the brand’s identity, where the precision of artisanal craftsmanship meets the scale and rationality of industry, without losing its connection to the territory and to the people who work within it.”
More than a factory expansion, Bradco II establishes itself as an architectural landmark, demonstrating how industrial design can embody identity, precision, and continuity while enhancing both the workplace and its surrounding environment.
