A 3800 square foot contemporary home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles was designed in 2011 for a young family. The house was built in 2012. The primary design focus was to connect the backyard, including a patio, swimming pool & spa, to the Living Room and Dining Room with sliding glass doors. Hsu McCullough designed an open riser, mono-stringer staircase at the center core of the house to bring additional natural light into the first floor. There are large skylights above the staircase. The west facing Master Suite was designed with an outdoor deck off the bedroom to enjoy evening sunsets.
