The design is the result of an intensive workshop week. The
workshop focused on the elaboration of futuristic scenarios and the design of a
remodeling of our faculty building for the year 2050.
Our proposal contains a big iconic flower on the roof. Two
big pools collect the rain to be further distributed along the building. The
big dome with adjustable panels on the top contains additional studio spaces.
Two intertwining tubes spiral upward for slow circulation, interactions and
winter gardens that host studio spaces.
The winter gardens on the existing façade can be closed
during the winter in order to collect the heat of the sun for the studios.
In the summer, the winter gardens are open. Sliding and
tilting sunshades allow each studio to control its environment and protect
itself against the sun. Additional water is run down the winter gardens for
extra cooling requirements.
Our project was the winning entry for the school
competition.
