This Richmond home renovation was carefully designed to open up the living area, bringing in more natural light and improving access to the garden. The extension was designed to create a linear flow between the home and outdoor space, maximising usability while respecting the existing architectural character.
By referencing the building lines of neighbouring properties, the design ensures privacy while allowing for an expanded living area. A fine-tuned material palette was selected to complement the home’s existing structure and maintain harmony with the surrounding properties. This careful balance between old and new ensures that the extension blends seamlessly into its environment while enhancing the home’s functionality.
This new facility aims to support the Corps in their critical role of protecting, saving lives and enhancing the day-to-day operations of the lifeguards. Sporting a modern, sustainable design, the building will feature dedicated training and operational rooms, equipment storage and changing facilities. The natural wood-effect frontage of the building embodies a green and minimalistic approach. This community centre design reflects the facility’s coastal setting and helps to integrate it seamlessly into the environment along the seafront.
