Boulder Park is located in a community in Ji'nan, China, covering approximately 13,000 m². It is a comprehensive community park that combines children’s playground, shallow stream water play, family connection, and natural relaxation. The park is divided into several areas: the All-Age Boulder Playground, Water Garden, Forest Garden, Stone Garden, and Flower Garden, each designed to meet the needs of different age groups and functions.
With "giant stones" as its theme, the park pioneers the use of 3D concrete printing technology to create uniquely shaped installations that are integrated with functional activities. The 3D-printed surfaces feature layered rock textures that mimic natural stones and caves, blending harmoniously with the surrounding environment. The one-piece molding of 3D-printed free-form curved structures not only improves spatial accuracy and user experience, but also saves costs and reduces manual construction errors.
The park includes a variety of children's play facilities such as swings, slides, trampolines, and speaking tubes, encouraging physical exercise and promoting brain development through play. The Water Garden, focused on outdoor shallow stream water play, is equipped with fountains, water turntables, water extractors, press-to-release water devices, etc. It offers a space for children of all ages to engage in water play activities and experience the energy of water in nature.
What sets this project apart is the coexistence of digital fabricated elements and natural landscape, where the 3D-printed forms blend perfectly with the natural environment, ensuring both a controlled design effect and sustainability. Boulder Park provides not just a fun playscape that inspires creativity and curiosity of children while connecting them with nature, but also a shared space that fosters quality time and emotional connections for families.
