This is a bakery shop renovated an old Japanese house in Fukuoka, Japan.
The area is a residential district close to the downtown.
The existing house built of wood has impressive old wood walls and tile-roofing.
As for neighboring houses, we could see this house has a history and exist as a symbol of this town.
We started to plan not to appeal the facade as a shop renewing the whole image of this building
but we regarded to match with surroundings as important
and let the shop fit this residential district,
arranged facade design to integrate new section into old building,
and furthermore, configured so that people can recognize there is a bakery shop here.
We replaced only one surface of wall on south side with the shop section with all white appearance
not to be imbalance in existing characteristics.
Those wide lining windows attract interest of customers from the outside,
from the inside, let the sun light moderately in and limit the view to outside so that customers can shop comfortably.
The owner's philosophy, "to offer delicious quality bread everyday",
he does not permit compromise on everything, selecting ingredients and how to make bread.
His passion and his personal character percolate through this place and create "Kaiti's view of the world" here.
