The Canopee plot is located in the Gingko Eco-Quarter, north of Bordeaux. The plot is conceived by the architecture agency Brochet-Lajus-Pueyo. Two buildings on the plot are situated along a canal. As they wanted an architectural diversity for the buildings along the canal, the architects kindly invited us to conceive the F building.
The building's hexagonal footprint provides more hours of sun exposure to each facade and offers expansive views between the neighboring buildings. There are three or four apartments on each floor, each with a typical orthogonal layout. The interstitial spaces are utilized as angular terraces and balconies. The building is finished in a chalky white brick, with all of the terraces clad in local pinewood, distinguishing between the exterior volume and the surfaces of the subtracted voids.
