Developed through a combination of participatory design and analyses with employees, Nortera's (formerly Bonduelle) head office demonstrates how a carefully thought-out and human-centered design strategy can benefit users’ health and well-being in tangible ways.
Guided by the metaphor of a tree’s interconnected systems, this multifunctional workplace finds its roots in a ground floor gathering place humming with activity, stretching up through the trunk of a broad staircase topped with growing vegetation. The office then branches out into private and group work areas that line windowed peripheries, recalling greenhouses via glass partitions that fill the space with sunlight.
This variety encourages active movement throughout the workday by creating opportunities for social interactions and travel through its layout, while its biophilic and ambient elements instils a therapeutic effect. Inclusive towards different working styles, Bonduelle’s office breaks down siloes and enhances one’s experience with positive effects on to productivity and engagement.
