This residence is located in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
It sits in a quiet residential neighborhood of Hakusan City, an area lined with older buildings.
With buildings lining the east, south, and west sides and a road to the north, the site gave the impression of receiving very little light.
The client desired both privacy and bright interior spaces. Therefore, the house design focused on incorporating a large courtyard with windows to capture natural light.
A spacious courtyard of approximately 40m2 was created on the north side, establishing a system to bring sunlight into the interior from there.
This courtyard is enclosed by walls, completely shielded from the outside space. It is a private space yet also semi-outdoor, ensuring adequate light and ventilation.
This design also offers security benefits.
No windows were placed on the wall facing the road, ensuring complete privacy.
I consider this the best possible building for this residential area neighborhood.
