ALA’s design for Blue State’s Brooklyn office reflects the technology firm’s spirit of inclusivity by consolidating individual workspace and maximizing areas for collaboration. Organized with a neighborhood plan in mind, the core of the office is focused around a large public “plaza,” with a blue and gray monumental sofa serving as a spine and anchoring clusters of seating options. The floor is bisected with a boulevard-like corridor that connects to workstations, meeting rooms, and a day-lit lounge. As employees and guests move north, programming hints at a subtle shift in energy, with spaces becoming quieter and more private for individual work. Throughout, ALA’s airy, open plan is accented with a rich palette and pops of the brand’s signature blue. Bold hues are balanced with neutral architectural elements like polished concrete floors, white-washed walls, and light wood accents.
