Design of the new Elmwood Avenue home for Blue Sky Design Supply, Buffalo NY.
Relocating from its original spot in the Cobblestone District to the Elmwood Village was a big move for Blue Sky Design Supply. The new space is more than twice the size of the original store. It is located on a busy street in a popular neighbourhood, and has a lot more space for classes and product demonstrations. The space serves as both a retail store and a working laboratory for Blue Sky's products: the walls feature Milk Paint and American Clay, and will evolve over time with new colours and layers to show the design possibilities of natural products.
The buildout of the new space took longer than originally planned. The narrow wood plank floors in particular took a lot of patience and elbow grease to remove layers of grime and broken VCT. But the results were well worth the wait.
