Site:
The site is
located in Vancouver's Southlands, a neighbourhood characterised by
large single-family residences and horse farms. The redevelopment of
the site involves a complete overhaul, including the construction of a
new residence, new stables and a riding ring.
Problem Statement:
To
create a landscape that maintains the functional characteristics of a
horse farm, fits the rural character of the neighbourhood, and
complements the contemporary form of the new residence.
Design Solution:
The
design for the property is the result of a close collaboration between
the architects, the clients and ourselves. The landscape design
includes a horse riding ring, an auto/entry court with a water feature,
and a private backyard with a pool and patio space extending from the
residence.
