Bisheh Chenaran Garden Café Site is located at the end of the Bustãn-e-Zendegi (Iife sidewalk) that was one of the main paths that connected gardens and waterways. Today this path is actually located in the NajafAbad gardens that has been considered to restore recent years and today some part of it has been restored too. At the middle of this way there is one of the most important Najafabad historical buildings with the name PengKhane, it has been restored and has been located about 800 meters far from our site.
The plane trees and waterways and actually the PengKhaneh around our site forced us to design the site at this linear path and being one part of these elements and having the same patterns. So the first ideas formed to have an open place and design a garden café.
On the other side we should pay attention to the importance of the historical side of PengKhane and help to improve it. In the past PengKhane was the place at the center of Najafabad Gardens and next to the waterways. The building was like a small iwan where a trustworthy man with the name Mirab (the sultan of water) went there and shared the water between the farmers.
Certainly we are going to follow the design of Pengkhane and its Geometry and lines to design our site and get to our purpose and actually respect this historical building together.
The building of the Pengkhane was the result of arch modules repetition. So we use this pattern in our design and it makes our site so flexible.
In the design process one of our restrictions was the project expense and we had to use Inexpensive materials for the building, furniture and interior design.
Our idea , designing modular! With this method all the project costs were reduced and we could end the project with just 40 million Toman (2500$) and get started the café. The frame of this modules made by 3*3 cm structural tubing and the covers were made of wooden mat and thick plastic and context. These materials prevent the rain permeation and it's a kind of isolation. For the floor we use the coarse aggregate because it is so inexpensive and it prevents the evaporation of soil surface humidity and makes the weather so cool.
An important point for us to design was the Municipalities rules. Because construction in this area was illegal and even we didn’t have any Permission to destroy the wall between the site and Bisheh! So maybe in the future Municipality plans, will force the owner to leave his land. So we had to design the movable modules for moving easily to other places.
Modules are designed in a way that every part is separated and they all have a different view to the plane trees ! This separation could get all kinds of people in the cafe together like family groups or friend groups.
