Simple and yet innovative this is the concept design project of Bini Gallery, located in the core of fashion Smith Street, Collingwood suburb. It is a space between a gallery and a jewellery store where the historical heritage of the building is retained and used together with some brand new solutions; like the LED lighting system integrated into the hanging vynil tape stripes. The result is a flexible store capable to improve product looking and space quality.
Starting from the old tiles floor with chessboard looking, and from the idea to have a flexible space arrangement, the unit created is an extruded square hosted both by the floor and by the ceiling. This becomes a coffered ceiling made of hanging vinyl tapes and a dark painted plywood display on the floor. This modular square system finds his summary in the shop where ceiling and floor merge together. Three wooden "screens/display" are hanged to the ceiling thanks to the vinyl tapes, giving to the shop a great visibility from the outside.
This project took part in Melbourne Design Awards 2010 and has been short listed as a finalist.
