JRDV Urban International is the lead design architect and master planner for Bicester Village Suzhou, an outdoor experientially-oriented luxury retail center with approximately 200 boutiques and restaurants located approximately 30 miles west of Shanghai, China.
The design of Bicester Village Suzhou is a fusion of the west and the east owing to the similarities between the architecture and development history of Suzhou and Venice Italy including canals, tile roofs and decorative upper level window patterning. The project is a unique design that could only be located on this site. Like all of JRDV’s projects, there is never “copy and paste,” only original architectural design.
In addition to being lead designer, JRDV is responsible for coordinating a large international design team from site selection through construction phases.
Phase 1 opened complete in Fall 2014. Phase 2 opened in 2021. JRDV is currently working on the design of Phase 3 schedule to open in 2024.
