The BiblioTech is the first all-digital public library in the United States. Located on the South Side of San Antonio, the BiblioTech is a highly anticipated learning resource in an area populated by coffee shops and restaurants with internet connection resources, yet surprisingly devoid of public gathering and community spaces such as libraries and bookstores. Through the BiblioTech’s e-readers, residents of Bexar County are now able to access more than 10,000 current titles and tens of thousands of classics. E-readers feature accommodations for the visually impaired and are available for check-out to take home or read on the premises. Residents may also use their own e-readers or tablets to access the BiblioTech’s collection.
The BiblioTech - derived from the Spanish word for library, both playful and sophisticated - is Bexar County’s newest library and interactive community space; a place that moves beyond published works. The BiblioTech inspires creativity and hands-on learning with features not found in conventional libraries, and allows users to engage in interactive content, find facts in an instant, and access an entire world of information in a comfortable and inviting setting.
