BIBILEE STUDIO is opening their first store at Shenzhen All-City. The founders of the brand see the project as a new exploration - a new beginning.
IN THE PARK
Shenzhen is a city of green flushing under abundant daylight, whose residents aspire to nature and the outdoors. < In the Park> is a silent film starred the famed Charlie Chaplin. Amidst the woods and the garden of the forking paths, plays of strange and serendipitous encounters unfold. The design seeks to create a sculptural park, an abstracted place, a wonderfully and curiously curated otherworldly space. The blue objects are treated as sculptures as well as nature, creating organic relationships and unexpected dynamics where a dialogue can be formed between the visitors and the clothing items.
The client asked for a clean and minimal aesthetic approach to precisely and visually communicate the brand's messages. The design is abstinent in materiality and confined to a simple color palette of black, white and electric blue.
BLUE WHALE IN THE INK BOTTLE
Despite the boutique size of the space, we aspire to create diversity and variety in experiences through manipulations of limited elements. The shiny black tiled facade delineates a sharp threshold, seperating the interior from that of the mall. Within this black container, the blue objects breed and thrive with their autonomy.
Two ocpaque volumes - the cashier and changing rooms, are placed carefully in plan to create a fluid spatial sequence - a viewing corridor connecting two main showroom spaces on both ends of the store, echoing with the interior and exterior facades.
The design provokes a childlike irony. The almost childish-looking tetris display objects rise as the focal points of the space, where seven of these objects scatter around in a randomized fashion. This family of blue sculptures creates a playful wondering-around experience for the visitors, reminiscent of the Alice in Wonderland.
