Between Heaven and Earth is a contemplation on wind, a mechanical re-creation of a constant yet transient and directionless phenomenon rendered visible through fragmented and recomposed images of the viewer's immediate surroundings. As one reclines on his back, facing the sky, a canopy of swiveling mirrors above diffuses light, creating rhythmic, emergent patterns and refracting the clouds and garden. The mirror shingles dissolve the reflected landscape into kaleidoscopic, single pixels; their rippling movement merges into a unified wave when activated by air currents. This installation blurs natural patterns and experiences: clouds forming and passing by, grasses and tree cover flickering in the wind, and flocking behavior. Collapsed into a single tableau, the pivoting reflections create a moment of suspension as if one was floating. This sensation is heightened by the surrounding gently modulated topography, and the pouf sofas, inviting visitors to lie down as if buoyed by air. Islands of tall grasses structure the space and lend privacy, enhancing one's immersion into the garden. The meditative arbor combines two of nature?s elemental effects, calming yet stimulating.
