The campus Diagonal Besos combine several functions. Education, research, offices, co-working, public functions and residential purposes. The combination of these functions reflect the desire to create a hub for innovation, knowledge and technology transfer through interaction between educational facilities, research, businesses, public administrations and its occupants.
Aspiring this ‘hub’, the campus development thrives on four key factors: design, flexibility, sustainability and social awareness. The buildings are designed with great respect to form, function and construction.
The student housing residence, which is the subject of this tender, is located in the middle of the new campus Diagonal Besos on plot H. Therefore the project concept tends to be an added value to all activities combined on campus. At the same time the residence needs to be an extrapolation of the campus’ intentions, incorporating its key factors.
The student housing residence lies on a very central location on site, with on one side the research buildings and university buildings and on the other side the co-working, public administrations and offices. In the following images, it will be demonstrated how all activities are implemented within the building and how the effective usage of the building is perceived and integrated in its design.
