Eight Station, a Vancouver-based conceptual and architectural design studio founded by Ana Romaniv, collaborated on a strategic interior concept for a key penthouse unit in the newly completed Premium development at Mercedes Platz, Berlin. The penthouse had posed a challenge for developers in attracting the right buyer – and the design team was brought in to shift the narrative.
With a clear goal to elevate the emotional appeal and spatial clarity of the home, Eight Station created a modern, light-filled interior concept that highlights the penthouse’s unique strengths and urban elegance.
Key Features of the Conceptual Design:
• Bright & Airy Atmosphere
Capitalizing on the abundant natural light streaming through panoramic windows, the concept embraces soft tones, layered textures, and a minimalist aesthetic to evoke a feeling of openness, warmth, and serenity.
• Statement Terrace with a View
The expansive terrace – one of the standout features – was carefully staged to showcase its potential as a luxurious outdoor living space. With breathtaking views over Berlin’s iconic landmarks, the terrace became a focal point of the design narrative.
• Iconic & Vintage Furnishings
The interior features a curated blend of iconic modern pieces and subtle vintage accents, striking a balance between contemporary sophistication and timeless luxury.
• Tailored Spatial Solutions
In the kitchen, refined design gestures like a subtly recessed marble sink and an integrated cooktop built directly into the marble surface demonstrate the studio's attention to detail and conceptual precision. These sculptural choices blur the lines between function and form.
• Design That Speaks to the Heart
More than just luxurious, the space was designed to feel emotionally resonant – a home that doesn’t just reflect wealth, but one that feels close to the heart. The intention was to create a place that feels effortless, light, and livable, yet unmistakably premium.
Located directly at the East Side Gallery and Mercedes-Benz Arena, this final unit in the Premium development closes a major chapter in one of Berlin’s most dynamic cultural districts. With this fresh design vision, the penthouse is reintroduced not just as a property — but as a lifestyle.
