freee design project | conversion of the former tempelhof airport area into a public park | berlin _germany
concept: the proposal for the tempelhof airport, which is inactive for a short time and open for public use since may 2010, focusses to the eminent qualities of the area. these are: it's enormous largeness and wideness, it's extrem flatness with some very specific vertical elements, it's pure plainness and openness and it's rough nature.
our design for a public park reflects these extremely rare qualities of an open, almost metaphysical space in the midst of a very busy european metropolis. an international aviation time meets a local space and transforms the area into a spatiotemporal structure of desire.
