BERKELEY AVENUE
This home was originally built by Joseph Eichler Homes after the Second World War. Several phases of renovations enlarged and opened up spaces; Phase 1 extended and remodeled the kitchen and opened it to the living and dining rooms. Phase 2 remodeled baths and bedrooms and created a home office. Phase 3 expanded the family room horizontally and vertically, making it a multi-purpose guest room with Murphy bed, new bath and reconfigured laundry. Floor to ceiling single pane glass at doors and windows have been replaced with insulated panels, and the walls and roof now offer complete thermal and moisture protection. The addition expands on the ideas from decades ago that life can be inclusive without losing the sense of privacy, austerity and independence.
