To help Bergen Community College (BCC) launch a new campus in the Meadowlands, RSC Architects (RSC) designed the transformation of an existing five-story building at 1280 Wall Street West in Lyndhurst, NJ, into the new 118,000 SF Meadowlands Campus Building. Construction was completed in three phases over several years, beginning in 2009. The project was completed in January 2013.
The facility accommodates programs for both full- and part-time degree students, as well as short-term and continuing-education students. It features a cafeteria and adjoining kitchen, science labs, teaching classrooms, computer labs, administration offices, conference rooms, and student common areas. The school’s prime location enables BCC to provide enhanced educational services to southern Bergen County.
RSC completed all stages of the design and construction phases of the project on time to facilitate student and faculty move in for the upcoming school semesters. Design contracts for Phase I were completed in May 2009, while construction
was completed in Sept. 2009. For Phase II, design contracts were completed in Dec. 2010, while construction was completed in Sept. 11. For Phase III, design contracts were completed in Jan. 2012, and construction was completed in
Nov. 2012 for seamless move-in for the spring 2013 semester. All phases were completed on schedule.
