As cities evolve, so do perspectives on work and the workplace. Seizing this opportunity, the designers of Benoy designed a people-centric environment that envisions the future of work for their own people.
The core mission: Empower their team with flexibility, enhance wellness, and elevate productivity.
The New Workplace: A Creative Hub in the Heart of the City
The Studio is a welcoming haven in the heart of the city on the 21st floor of The Gateway Singapore.
The space encompasses 536 square meters and features a challenging yet intriguing parallelogram-shaped floor plan. The goal was to make this space versatile, accommodating various functions including workstations, meeting areas, social spaces, acoustic pods, relaxation spots, and office amenities, all enveloped by greenery.
Dynamic Workspaces: Designed for Productivity & Collaboration
The Studio embraces flexibility and collaboration with agile design:
Quiet Zones:
Private, focused workspaces with acoustic soundboards.
Loud Zones:
For brainstorming and collaboration, featuring ergonomic desks and comfy sofas.
Mixed Zones:
Versatile spaces with workstations and collaboration tables for agile teams.
A Sanctuary of Generous Home-like Comfort and Agile Work
Traditionally, offices aimed for 10 sqm per person, prioritizing spaciousness. But today, efficiency is king. Contemporary workplaces, like co-working spaces, opt for a leaner 5-6 sqm per person model.
The Singapore Studio, currently home to almost 40 individuals, takes a unique approach. They offer a generous 15 sqm per person, striking the right balance between personal comfort and a bustling hub for productivity and collaboration.
The Studio embraces agile working with 2-day flexible arrangements, reserving 40% of the space for non-workstation areas, ensuring versatility for all.
Furthermore, they are prepared for future growth, with the flexibility to accommodate up to 55 individuals, ensuring they adapt to the evolving needs of the modern workforce.
The Loft: Creativity, Collaboration, and Wellbeing
'The Loft' is their vibrant hub for events, meetings, and social gatherings, exuding a cozy living room atmosphere with modern lighting and a retractable projector screen.
Adjacent to it, their glass-walled boardroom promotes transparency and collaboration.
Focused on creativity, they offer ergonomic workspaces with sea views.
Embracing Environmental Sustainability
During their move, they reused and refurbished existing furniture, reducing waste, extending their lifespan through deep cleaning and reupholstering.
For new furnishings, they sourced eco-friendly, cradle-to-cradle materials, and locally available options to reduce embodied carbon.
In the pantry, they implemented a waste collection system for landfill, paper, and plastic recycling, aligning with their commitment to sustainable practices.
Biophilic Design: Connecting with Nature
The Studio embraces biophilic design with indoor plants and green walls, fostering a refreshing and productive atmosphere while purifying the air.
In a past 'Adopt A Plant Campaign,' they rescued discarded plants and nurtured them back to health for voluntary adoption by their colleagues, fostering a strong human-nature connection.
With 571 plants, their Studio resembles a thriving forest, reflecting their commitment to nature. The interior design stimulates the senses, creating a dynamic natural space for all to enjoy.
