To enhance the nighttime image of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, Grenald Waldron
Associates was retained by the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA). GWA designed a dynamic color changing system for the towers and points of light along the stiffening truss. This gave the DRPA the ability to animate the entire bridge. A computer programmed control system activates sequences of color on the towers, and movement and color of the points of light to make the bridge come alive after dark.
