The transformation of the iconic Gonski Meers Foyer by TKD Architects, in close collaboration with Belvoir St Theatre, reimagines the space as a vibrant cultural hub. The layout was meticulously reconfigured to eliminate queues and fragmented circulation paths, creating a more open, fluid, and welcoming environment.
A bold palette of bright colours in the amenities, foyer, and bar area brings playful energy, contrasting beautifully with the raw industrial character of the existing architecture. This thoughtful interplay of old and new highlights the theatre’s history while delivering a contemporary atmosphere. The introduction of unisex facilities throughout the expanded amenities, not only increases capacity but also reflects a clear commitment to meeting patron needs and enhancing comfort.
Made possible through community fundraising, the result is a dynamic and flexible venue that seamlessly supports all aspects of the theatre experience, ensuring it continues to inspire and engage its community
