The "original" house was an old school house moved to the site in the 1920's. An addition was added on each side and the back, but never really integrated. The result was an out of scale interior with a poorly organized entry and many tiny dark bedrooms.
A large sophisticated kitchen and connecting porch addition to the rear and new entry, driveway, and exterior porch to the front, solved the scale and proportion issues. Interior finishes were vastly upgraded while daylight was evenly spread throughout the house to make this 'once upon a boarding house' look elegant and stately.
